Human activity affects the state of ecosystem services through various drivers of change.

Human well-being highly depends on the capacity of the Earth’s natural systems to provide ecosystem services [IUCN, 2009Resource]. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment [2005Resource] presents a conceptual framework of the interaction between ecosystems, the services they provide and human well-being.
